If you travel to almost all African Union member countries, you are required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, and if you are not vaccinated, you are required to present a negative PCR test done within 72 hours of travel. Last Month, Dr. Jill Biden FLOTUS had travelled to Kenya and I wondered if she had to go through the hassle of having to provide proof of her COVID vaccination status by uploading it to the PanaBIOS platform as mandated in Kenya.
Clinton and Gates are behind the push for Vaccine Passports in Africa.
In July 2022, the African Union and its strategic partners convened for the ‘Boma of Africa festival’ in the wake of COVID-19 to ‘fortify Africa against future disease outbreaks’. The main speakers at this event included Bill and Hillary Clinton, President of Global Affairs of Facebook Nick Clegg, and World Health Organization (WHO) Director General, Tedros Ghebreyesus among others. This significant event focused on the launch of a Common Vaccine Passport that would be embedded in the continental eHealth Backbone known as the Pan-African Biosurveillance Network (PanaBIOS).
Health Surveillance and Vaccine Record Verification.
PanaBIOS is a biosurveillance and bioscreening application that uses machine learning algorithms, for digitizing travel health history including port health screening and immunization records inspection. It is also used to monitor social gatherings and venues to curb ‘super-spreading’ risks, because it relies on geo-location intelligence to power predictive analytics used for contact tracing. It is also used in Africa for mass testing and community screening.
This comes right at a point when African governments such as Kenya, are calling for the mass biometric health data registration for all citizens, as they plan for the intended roll-out of ‘Universal health coverage’. African airlines and governments have implemented PanaBIOS as a tool for surveillance and verification of the health and vaccine status of all cross-border travelers. The African Union claims that this application helps to facilitate cross-border travel through digital health clearance, building an electronic vaccine registry and to detect disease outbreak hotspots.
PanaBIOS was developed by Koldchain BioCordon whose partners are Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance funded by Bill Gates, and World Economic Forum that has been pushing for a digital registry for verifying vaccination status. Also, the WHO Regional office for Africa launched the Africa Region Monitoring Vaccine Effectiveness (AFRO-MoVE) that promotes mass vaccination campaigns. This AFRO-MoVE Network was funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation(BMGF) and that explains the fervent push for COVID-19 mass vaccination drives that are underway in Africa.
The irony is that during the height of the pandemic, Bill Gates was against lawmakers and public health advocates that were calling for the temporary lifting of vaccine patent protections. He hated the idea of lifting intellectual property protections on COVID-19 vaccines to have vaccine recipes shared with the developing world, where many people were losing their lives. He was keen to show that he valued protecting the interests of Big Pharma than of poor people dying in Africa. Also, the WHO that set up COVAX the global coalition to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to developing countries, failed to deliver the vaccines during the height of COVID-19, and this led to massive shortages of vaccines in Africa.
Vaccine Manufacturing in Africa
So why does Bill Gates now care about COVID-19 vaccines and their effectiveness for Africans? First, Moderna signed an agreement with Kenya’s government to build the mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility in that country.
Notably, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is supporting the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in scoping commitments towards local COVID-19 vaccines manufacturing, after the African Union (that partners with the BMGF), set a goal to increase regional manufacturing of routine and outbreak vaccines in Africa. Needless to say, one of Moderna’s strategic partners is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). Second, The Gates foundation has been involved in various surveillance research projects in Africa, and one of these projects is the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS). CHAMPS is being implemented in Western Kenya as a long-term project using sites in Kenya to collect robust and standardized longitudinal data to track the preventable causes of childhood death globally.
Through CHAMPS, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded $1.3million dollars to HJFMRI to carry out COVID-19 Surveillance by studying COVID-19 in pregnant women, newborns and associated risk factors, maternal morbidity and mortality in Western Kenya. No Wonder Bill Gates is so eager to have the monitoring of COVID-19 ‘vaccine effectiveness’ to fill in ‘research gaps’ on how COVID-19 vaccines affect pregnant women.
Bill Gates and Bill Clinton are supporting the push for vaccine passports in Africa, so that more Africans can get vaccinated now that Moderna is producing these vaccines in Africa. Africans are always on the worst receiving end and are used as guinea pigs to ‘check the effectiveness’ of these new COVID-19 vaccines.
Biometric-Based Vaccine Trial Kenya.
There is yet another controversial surveillance project funded by Bill Gates that is part of a research study involving a biometric-based vaccination management system for newborn children in Kenya through the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and NEC Corporation. NEC Corporation recently announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Microsoft for global digital initiatives and use of Microsoft’s cloud platform. Subsequently, the Gates funded KEMRI launched a ‘cloud-based vaccination tracking system’ for the controversial newborn biometric-based vaccination trial that we discussed in a previous article.
It is illegal and unethical to demand the proof of Vaccine Passports in Africa for international actors to pursue their own selfish interests and gain. All the organizations receiving funding from BMGF in Africa are still pushing for COVID-19 mass vaccination in Africa. Vaccine passports are a clear violation of human rights resulting from medical and government tyranny.
Are these ‘donors’ preying on the fact that Africa lacks proper Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting Systems, and laws that protect Africans? It is time to stop governments from demanding proof of COVID-19 vaccination status through vaccine passports or certificates. Also, how safe is my personal data once I upload my ‘vaccine certificate’ on to their PanaBIOS system? How is my information used? That I may never know.
